Bonnie Tyler Recovering After Emergency Intestinal Surgery

Singer Bonnie Tyler has been taken to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she owns a home, after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery.
A spokesperson said the procedure “went well” and confirmed she is now recovering. They added that her family, friends, and fans are expected to be concerned and are wished well as she makes a full and speedy recovery.
Born Gaynor Hopkins in Neath, Wales, Tyler rose from performing in local clubs to international fame after being spotted by a talent scout. She released her first single, Lost in France, in 1977, but achieved global stardom with her 1983 hit Total Eclipse of the Heart, which later surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.
The power ballad topped charts worldwide, including two weeks at No. 1 in the UK and four weeks in the US. Over her career, Tyler has released other major hits such as Holding Out for a Hero, and received a Grammy nomination.
She represented the United Kingdom at Eurovision in 2013 and was awarded an MBE in 2023 for her contributions to music.
Despite her current health situation, she is still scheduled to perform in Malta and Germany later this month, along with additional tour dates across Europe including the UK, Austria, Hungary, Turkey, and Romania.
