Teshis and edotco to Work Together on Telecommunications Infrastructure Development

To accelerate sustainable development and enhance local technical capacity in Bangladesh’s telecommunications sector, the state-owned Telephone Shilpa Sangstha (Teshis) has signed an agreement with telecommunications infrastructure company edotco Bangladesh.
Under the new agreement, a center will be established at Teshis facilities for battery repair and reuse, enabling longer use of lithium-ion batteries while reducing e-waste and enhancing local workforce skills in power management. The agreement was recently signed at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications by Teshis Managing Director Manowar Hossain Molla and edotco Bangladesh Country Managing Director (CMD) Sunil Isaac.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, said that if the initiative proves successful, it will pave the way for domestic battery cell manufacturing in the future. This would help save foreign exchange and support the development of new technology sectors. He added that the agreement would play an important role in further strengthening the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.
In his remarks as the chair, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division Abdun Naser Khan said that the combination of Teshis’s industrial capabilities and edotco’s international technological expertise would create a mutually beneficial partnership. He noted that this collaboration would have a positive impact not only on the telecommunications sector but also on other technology-driven industries in the future.
Sunil Isaac said that as a partner in building the country’s digital infrastructure, edotco believes sustainable initiatives, innovation and local capacity building are crucial to creating a strong ecosystem. Through this new initiative, he added, local workforce empowerment and long-term resource sustainability would be enhanced.
Manowar Hossain Molla said that the memorandum of understanding marks an important milestone in enhancing domestic capability, skills and potential. By integrating Teshis’s production capacity with edotco’s technological expertise, he said, the partners aim to boost local manufacturing, improve technological skills and build a more sustainable and self-reliant telecommunications industry.
