Tarique Rahman Takes Oath as Bangladesh’s New Prime Minister

Tarique Rahman took the oath of office on Tuesday, becoming the 11th Prime Minister of Bangladesh and marking the beginning of a new political chapter for the country.

The ceremony was held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, where President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath. The event was attended by senior political leaders, diplomats, civil servants, and invited guests.

Rahman, whose party secured victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, pledged to uphold the Constitution and serve the people with integrity, transparency, and accountability. Members of his newly appointed Cabinet were also sworn in during the ceremony.

The swearing-in formally concluded the interim administration led by Muhammad Yunus, which had managed the transitional period following last year’s political upheaval.

Security was significantly tightened around the Parliament complex, and special traffic arrangements were implemented across Dhaka to ensure smooth proceedings.

Rahman takes office amid heightened public expectations, with immediate priorities likely to include controlling inflation, implementing governance reforms, and restoring investor confidence.
